Mistinguett

(1875-1956)
   singer, actor
A star of the music hall, Mistinguett was born Jeanne-Bourgeois in La Pointe-Raguet, near Montmorency. she had a number of successes in the theater and in films, but it was in the café-concert circuit, then on the stage of the Parisian music halls, as the lead in several revues (Moulin-Rouge, Folies-Bergère, Casino de Paris) in the interwar period that she had her greatest triumphs. With her colorful phrasing and voice, mischievous glance, and graceful figure, she was the incarnation of the spirit and charisma of Paris. Mistinguett's best-known song was perhaps "Mon Homme," and she appeared frequently with maurice chevalier.
